Seven Months...

Dear Olivia,

Today, you are seven months old! The last month has been a busy one for you. Here's what you're up to these days:

You can sit up, and you're starting to get up on all fours. You roll, pivot, and even army-crawl a little bit to get what you want. And you want EVERYTHING! You grab everything within reach, and you especially want to reach the cat.

You still love to stick out your tongue, blow raspberries, and babble. You have progressed from babbling vowel sounds to saying "na na na" and "da da da" all the time.

We're starting to work on sleeping in your crib, since you're outgrowing the rock and play. Sometimes we'll get a decent stretch of sleep, but other times, you hate it. It's a crapshoot, really. Sleep is definitely something that can be improved; you take great naps, but have been waking every 2 hours for a couple of weeks now. Mommy is exhausted, but you're worth it, and I know you won't sleep like this forever.

You're trying new foods. So far, your favorites are sweet potatoes, avocado, pears, and prunes. You have also tried peaches, carrots, and mangoes, but you don't like mangoes unless I mix them with pears.

This month, you celebrated your first 4th of July, attended your first Cherry Festival, and had your first beach day. It was a big month of firsts.

You LOVE to be outside. More and more, we're realizing that you have a bit of separation anxiety when it comes to me, but we have discovered that when you're really upset (like in the church nursery during VBS or when I'm taking a shower), you calm down really quickly if someone takes you outside. You like to ride in the stroller and swing in the backyard. Your brothers love to push you in the stroller and swing. They still adore you and always want to make you laugh. One of my favorite things is to watch the three of you interact.

Olivia, you may be a bit of a high-maintenance baby these days, but you continue to bring us immense joy. We are so thankful you're ours. We love you so much, sweet baby.

Love, Mom
