Today is June 22 and you are six months old. I can't believe half of a year has passed since you joined our little family, and yet, I can barely remember what life was like before you.
Each day, your little personality comes out more and more, and we love watching you discover new things. You tried baby food (sweet potato puree) for the first time a couple of days ago. You seemed to like the taste, but eating from a spoon has been a tad confusing to you.
Speaking of eating, you have been doing so much better with bottles (actually, sippy cups) at daycare. The last couple of weeks, you have taken them really well for Dawn in the morning and afternoon, and I was still nursing you at noon. Now that we're on summer vacation, I still try to give you a cup each day, but you don't like to take them from me. I'm okay with that; I'm just thankful that you finally will take them at daycare. We're going to try and keep up with offering them so that we don't have to start all over in the fall.
We took our first long car ride with you a few days ago. We went to Grand Ledge to meet your new cousin, Charlie. I love that you have a cousin so close in age and I can't wait to see you two together in a few years.
Things you like:
- splashing in the bathtub
- watching your brothers - they make you laugh all the time
- nursing, snuggling, being held
- dancing with me
- playing with toys and putting everything in your mouth
- waking up super early every day
Things you don't like:
- when I walk out of the room and you can't see me for five seconds
- when your brothers are loud while you're trying to nap
- Daddy holding you when I'm around - but you're fine if I'm not in the room
Your brothers adore you more than ever. They love to hold you every day, and they love to make you laugh.
You still "talk" all the time. You roll all over and scoot around your play mat. You smile constantly. You're a pretty laid back baby in a lot of ways, like sleeping and overall contentment, but you can be high maintenance (not nearly as much as your brothers were though). You want to sit up on your own, but you're not quite there yet.
According to our scale at home, you weigh approximately 18 lbs. Your well check isn't for another couple of weeks, so I don't know your exact weight or length yet. You're still in size 3 diapers and are wearing 9 month clothes, though I think you'll be in 12 month sleepers soon.
Olivia, I am so thankful I get to be your mama. You are a blessing to our family and you are loved more than I could ever express in these letters. While I would love to keep you little forever, it is a pleasure and privilege to watch you grow.
Love you so much, baby girl,
Mom
