Five Months

Dear Olivia,

Your monthly birthday really snuck up on me this month. I feel like I just wrote your last letter and took your four month pictures. Maybe that's because your 4 month well-check was in the middle.

We've had another busy month with milestones and developments. You can now roll over back-to-belly and belly-to-back, and you love to blow raspberries (spit) all the time. You are almost always happy and smiling - you're not stingy with smiles, you give them out to everyone.

You are becoming interested in toys now. You like to hold things and chew on them, except of course for pacifiers and bottles. You pull my hair often and you like to hold onto your blanket in the car.

Like I said, you're still not too interested in bottles. You take about 2-2.5 ounces from a sippy cup twice a day at daycare, but the majority of the time, you nurse.

Sleep is decent. You fall asleep around 7:00-7:30 and you're out until about midnight or 1:00. Then you're up one or two more times before waking up for the day. You wake up at 4am almost every day and have a hard time falling back into a deep sleep. On these days, I have learned it's best if we just snuggle in the recliner after you nurse. I get a little more sleep and you get into a deep enough sleep that I can move you back to bed when my alarm goes off at 5:00. I cherish this time with you, when it's just us in a quiet room.

Sweet girl, you really are my sunshine. You bring so much joy to our little family. Your brothers adore you and still ask to hold you several times a day. They can't go to sleep until they've given you hugs and kisses goodnight, and they both really miss you when you're not around. You are very loved, my dear.

I am so glad God chose me to be your mama. I love you more than I could ever put into words. Happy 5 months, precious baby.

Love, Mama
